The charity

child_with_brothCaring for Congolese Children is a registered UK charity that assists children suffering from malnutrition, diseases and lack of education in the Democratic Republic of Congo, central Africa.

Since 1997 when the civil war began, the country has lost over 5 million people, many of them children, due to the conflict itself and the malnutrition and preventable diseases that followed.

Whilst the scale of the problem of child poverty, ill health and illiteracy in Congo is too large for one charity to have a major impact, we do make a worthwhile contribution through our Education and Food and Health programmes.

Our rolefeeding_centre_2

We fight illiteracy among underprivileged children through our child sponsorship scheme, the award of scholarships and the provision of school equipment. We fight malnutrition by supporting small-scale community feeding and health projects set up by local people themselves.

We are greatly encouraged by the knowledge that each time we succeed in helping one child to fight malnutrition or to go to school, there is one less malnourished or illiterate child in Congo. “One less”, in the knowledge that we cannot help all, is what is important to us.

Small charity

group_with_foodBeing a small charity, our overheads are relatively low. Donors can therefore be assured that their contributions have a prompt and direct effect in helping children break the poverty cycle in which they are presently trapped.
