How we help

baby_weighingCaring for Congolese Children runs education, food and health programmes for some of Congo’s most deprived children.

Through our Education Programme we provide scholarships to very poor children who might otherwise be unable to attend school due to a lack of financial resources. We also improve the learning environment at schools through such projects as providing clean drinking water, more hygienic facilities, classroom improvements and refurbishments.

Through our Food and Health Programme we provide financial support to a feeding centre run by nuns for young, malnourished children living in a very deprived district on the outskirts of Kinshasa.

Fundraising methods

Our activities in DRC are wholly dependent on successful fundraising. We generate income from a variety of sources, including events such sponsored challenges, marathons, garden parties and charity sales. We also seek funding for specific projects from charitable organisations. We welcome all who may wish to support us by becoming  members of our charity (GBP 25 per annun) or by making donations.

Management of funds

Funds are transferred to DRC and distributed under strict codes of financial practice. Furthermore, our representatives in Kinshasa obtain regular written reports from the beneficiary organisations on how resources, both financial and material, have been used. These reports are transmitted to us for scrutiny. In this way, we monitor the effects of our contribution on the wellbeing of the children, so we can be sure that all resources are managed effectively.
