Donation by Munich students

Monday, June 7th, 2010

Line up from Left: Marina Banks, Max Vermeer, Arnor Elvarsson and Fabian Middelmann.

A group of students at the Bavarian International School in Munich, Germany, have kindly donated £125 to CCC.  The students raised this money by participating in a ‘Young Enterprise’ project in which they marketed and sold hooded sweatshirts bearing the ‘BIS’ initials of their school.

Distressed by the suffering of children in DR Congo, the students chose to make a donation in support of our food and education programmes. We are most grateful to these internationally-minded students for making such an effective demonstration of solidarity with our cause.

Some of the students who helped organise the fundraising are shown in this accompanying photo.

Donation from Anglo American plc

Monday, August 24th, 2009

In our news item dated March 15th 2009 about our Desks & Classroom Improvements Project, we mentioned the generous grant we had received for this project from the Anglo American Group Foundation.  In July this year we were delighted to receive a donation of £2876 from the Foundation’s parent company, Anglo American plc.  This money had been raised through a sale of art to Anglo American’s employees for charitable purposes, and Caring for Congolese Children was chosen as the beneficiary.  This donation will be used to support our food, health and education programmes at the Centre Mère Marie Augustine in Kinshasa.

Fundraising Concert

Friday, June 19th, 2009

Adam Walker, a 15 year old schoolboy from Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands, organised a fundraising concert for CCC on 16th May.  Adam is participating in the International Young Leadership Award and chose to support CCC to demonstrate his involvement in international humanitarian activities.   Adam is a singer and guitarist and took part in the concert which raised a total of £255!  Adam is also planning a sponsored bungee jump on July 12th to raise more funds.

We greatly appreciate Adam’s enthusiastic support for our charity.  The money raised will help feed malnourished children at the Centre Mère Marie Augustine on the outskirts of Kinshasa.

Kingston upon Thames Carnival & Surbiton Festival 2008

Saturday, October 11th, 2008

To help raise funds for our various projects, Caring for Congolese Children ran stalls at both the Kingston upon Thames Carnival on August 31st and the Surbiton Festival on 27th September 2008. Homemade cakes – offered by Trustees and friends – sold very well and proceeds of £499 were achieved. These events also gave us the opportunity to publicize our charity and distribute our leaflets.
